I mean this is a world where physical prowess is a benefit to your survival. So why then, do these adults (not the stars who are emotionally attached to Judith) who are part of this community, give over their own safety to a 7 year old? It's not like the community is lacking capable, able bodied adults who can better handle guard duty. So why then, do they all decide that it is in their best survival interests to let a 7 year old have so much power over their continued survival? I can't, for the life of me, think of a situation that I would say, "Hey, you know who can handle this better than anybody else I know? A 7 year old," and I'm not in a day to day struggle for survival. That shows that these adults must have some kind of common sense. Which means they have had to make prudent life and death choices consistently for 8 years, and have made the right choices so far, because they are all still alive. So one day, all their lives led them to this same community that the 7 year old is in.

She is part of a large community with tons of adults who have lived through this hell of a world for 8 years (7 plus the length of the pregnancy). So, that means she is an apocalypse clock. I mean, this 7 year old was born during the apocalypse.
that would never happen in this situation. And in one of the most recent episodes, this 7 year old was doing guard duty. I mean, the new season started with a 7 year old girl bringing in new people to their group, to the objection of the adults. I realized something in their "offseason" between the front half and back half of this season. Can a show, after hitting that peak, return to it? Does that ever happen, or once the jump occurs, is it pretty much doomed to be downhill from there? Discuss.
What I am postulating is if it is possible to un=jump. It even had it's own website documenting user submitted moments when shows jumped the shark.

Just as an interesting sidenote, while the link goes to Da' Tropes, the phrase pre-dates TV Tropes by many years. This is generally used to refer to a moment where a show has hit its peak and from there, it's all downhill. This was after he had jumpted over barrels on his motorcycle and got injured and later admitied it was a stupid thing to do. It's Ruined Forever!!!įor those not aware Jumping The Shark refers to an episode of Happy Days where Fonzi jumped over a shark on water skis. It's reached its peak, it'll never be the same again, and it's all downhill from here. Ironically, it is this moment makes the viewers realize that the show has finally run out of ideas. This can range from something relatively small like the introduction of a new gimmick, all the way up to the magnitude of a full-on Genre Shift, in an attempt to stay fresh.
